I have worked as a photographer more than half my life. My affinity
for the Great Lakes and the sea is evident in my photography where
the water and its many changing moods are the dominant theme. Having
lived on or near islands in the Atlantic Ocean, the Gulf of Mexico,
and the Great Lakes since 1967, I find myself never far from the
shore.
As a year-round Mackinac Island resident who must walk, ride horseback,
or bike, I make it a point to always have my camera. This relaxed
pace allows me to capture those rare, fleeting moments in which
the ever-changing light creates spectacular scenes.

Nancy May is a third generation year-round resident of Mackinac
Island, Michigan.
Photography has interested her since she received her first Brownie
camera at age 7. She has traveled throughout North America and
Europe but Northern Michigan continues to be her favorite area
to photograph.
"Living on Mackinac year-round affords me the opportunity
to record the incredible beauty of the area in all weather and
lighting conditions. Through my work I hope to transport the viewer
to that time and place from which the photograph was taken. May
it be you!"
